I haven’t Googled myself in a while, so I decided it was probably time. And I found something extraordinary. I found destiny. You see, in April of 1899, a man named Robert Josiah Comfort married a woman named Alice Lenora in Pottawatomie County, which is just a skip away from here in Lawrence. Right, I know what you’re thinking, woopty doo – a guy named Robert Josiah married some girl a hundred years ago close to where you live. Well first of all, you don’t come by many men by the name of Robert Josiah, not even in 1899. But that’s not the scary part. The guy’s birthday is November 4. So with that in mind, it’s fair to say there is a girl out there named Alice Lenora just waiting for me to sweep her off her feet. Alice, if you’re out there, I’m scared, but I’m ready. Let’s head to Pottawatomie, find the reverend, submit ourselves to the stream of destiny and make us an Edith Pearl or two.
